Davidson Virginia Crowe - Adventure Science Center visitors can travel to the stars without ever leaving the ground during NASA’s Vision for Space Exploration Experience, which arrives at the Adventure Science Center this April. A traveling exhibit, Space Exploration Experience, will only make one stop in Nashville and will be on the premises of Adventure Science Center from Friday, April 6 to Saturday, April 7. The exhibit is FREE and open to the public during regular Center operating hours. The exhibit features holographic and 3D imagery that allows visitors to escape the confines of Earth and explore what it might be like to visit the surfaces of the moon, Mars and destinations beyond.
“Since the Sudekum Planetarium is currently closed for a $20 million renovation and expansion, we’re anxious to give visitors who may be longing for the stars an opportunity to virtually explore space,” said Kris McCall, Director of Sudekum Planetarium at Adventure Science Center. “We’re certain that guests to Space Exploration Experience will enjoy an excursion that’s out of this world.”
While exploring the exhibit, visitors will be able to manipulate their environment and explore simulated lunar and Martian landscapes, as well as travel to one of Saturn's moons. NASA staffers will be on hand at each of the exhibit’s stops to answer questions and discuss some of the tens of thousands of technologies that have evolved as a result of years of space-based research and development. The exhibit will give visitors insight into how tomorrow’s lifestyles will change as NASA develops advances in power, computer technologies, communications, networking and robotics. Visitors also will see how advanced technologies will increase the safety and reliability of space transportation systems while reducing costs. The exhibit is wheelchair-accessible and takes approximately 10 minutes to navigate. For more information on NASA's Vision for Space Exploration, visit: www.nasa.gov.
