Nashville, TN - Ingenious kids will be in good company at Adventure Science Center on January 28 as they explore their peers’ inventions and build their own contraptions during Young Inventors Day, an annual event dedicated to showcasing and encouraging scientific creativity.

“Kids are masters of innovation, and Young Inventors Day is designed to not only highlight but stimulate their boundless creativity,” said Angela Layton, Events Manager for Adventure Science Center. “The activities we have planned for this day will help children of all ages to think outside the box, and we also look forward to showing off the creations of local kids. Third through eighth graders from across Middle Tennessee are invited to demonstrate their inventions at the event.”

In conjunction with By Kids, For Kids (BKFK), a national organization that organizes an annual invention competition for young people, ASC has invited local participants in grades three through eight to demonstrate their entries during the event which will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The national BKFK Xerox Invent-a-Toy World Games competition (http://www.bkfk.com/challenge/) encourages kids to use the scientific process to create a new toy, game or sporting good. The grand prize winner receives an opportunity to patent his or her invention. Other winners will receive membership to 2006 Camp Invention, a summer program held at locations across the country, and other prizes.

In addition to viewing the competition entries, all ASC visitors to Young Inventors Day will have hands-on opportunities in which to participate. Activities will include building a whirligig, space station, powered robot, musical instruments and more.

The sponsor of Young Inventors Day is Waddey & Patterson, P.C., a full service intellectual property law firm based in Nashville with offices in Huntsville, Alabama.
