Frequently Asked Questions
TICKETS & PRICING
- Are general admission prices changing?
ASC has not raised admission prices since 2005. The grand opening will see a small increase in admission fees in conjunction with the expanded experience we will now offer our visitors. The new admission fees will be:
- Members: FREE
- Adult/Teen: $11
- Ages 3-12: $9
- Seniors 62+: $9
- Toddler (2 & under) FREE
- Is there an extra charge for planetarium
shows?
Yes. We’ve made the Sudekum Planetarium
bigger and better than ever; the only one of its kind currently in the
U.S. Planetarium tickets may be purchased for an additional charge. All
planetarium tickets are $6 for non-members and $4 for ASC members. Planetarium
tickets without general admission will not be available, unless it is a
special, after-hours event.
- Are children under age 2 required to pay for
a ticket to the planetarium?
Children age 2 and under may only be admitted to a
planetarium show for free if they are seated in a adult’s lap. If
you wish your child to be seated separately, a separate ticket is
required. Please be sure to check the show description for suggested
audience age.
- Are coupons available or are there any
special promotions in conjunction with the grand opening?
Coupons for Adventure Science Center general
admission are currently available in Nashville Citipass, Entertainment
Book and PetSavers coupon books, as well as the Visit Music City discount
book produced by Nashville’s Visitor and Convention Bureau. No other special discounts or promotions are planned at this time.
- Do you offer a military discount? Will that
change?
Effective June 28, the Center will begin a new
program, which will offer a discount of $2 off the general admission
price per person for active military members and their immediate family
members when visiting any day of the week (proof of military status
required). Free admission on Sunday will be discontinued.
MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
- Will Members still get in free to see
planetarium shows?
Basic memberships do not include admission to
planetarium shows. Because we value our ASC Members, all members will
receive a discount on planetarium tickets. The new Family Deluxe
Membership and ASC Contributing Memberships will include free passes to
planetarium shows (the number of passes varies depending on the
contribution level).
EXHIBITS & PROGRAMS
- Can you tell me more about the new Sudekum
Planetarium?
At the center of the new Sudekum Planetarium is the
GOTO Chiron optical star projector that fills the dome with more than 6.5
million stars (the previous star ball projected 2,500). This
breathtakingly realistic night sky is combined with a Digistar 3,
high-definition, full-dome system that projects images and animations of
the wonders of the universe from horizon to horizon. No other planetarium
in the country offers the seamless integration of these two technologies.
The gently sloping seating and powerful 5.1 surround sound system give
the visitors to the Sudekum a unique, immersive and exhilarating
experience. Learn
more about the new planetarium technology here.
- Can you tell me more about the inaugural first
show?
The Sudekum Planetarium's inaugural show is
called STARS. STARS is an original
production narrated by actor Mark Hamill. Adventure Science Center has
been working with National Space Centre in Leicester, England, to create
this stunning 26-minute show exploring the powerhouses of the universe
and man’s relationship with the night sky throughout history. Part
of the “STARS” soundtrack is performed by The Nashville
Symphony, conducted by Albert-George Schram, Resident conductor.
“STARS” is made possible, in part, by a gift from SunTrust
Bank, Inc.
- What times are programs presented in the
Sudekum Planetarium?
See our show
schedule for a complete listing of show times.
- Is there a show about what’s
visible in the current night sky?
Sit back, relax, and watch the stars come out during
Skies Over Nashville, a LIVE program that highlights the stars,
constellations, and planets visible in the evening at this time of year.
This is also a great opportunity to ask questions or even try to stump
the presenter. Using the same technology as “STARS,” discover
how to gain a better understanding of and connection with the universe by
playing connect the dots.

- Is there assigned seating in the Sudekum Planetarium?
