Small Groups and Teams, Hands-On
$3 per person
Hands-on labs actively involve students in guided small group science activities. Because labs require special set up and materials, groups will be required to pay a $50 cancellation fee if the group cancels within 3 calendar days of the date of the lab.
Bone Detectives
Grades 4-12 30 students
NEW! Height? Age? Male or female? Discover the information that bones can tell us about an individual in this exciting hands-on lab! Students become forensic anthropologists as they work in teams to help solve “The Case of the Buried Bones.”

Crime Scene Science
Grades 1-8 30 students
A mystery needs to be solved and we need your help to examine the evidence. Experience the procedures that forensic teams follow to match a suspect to a crime. Teams will use deductive and problem-solving skills, microscopes and teamwork to determine results
(depending on the grade level). Possible activites in each lab include:
Grades 1-3: Torn message, footprints, tire tracks, tool marks
Grades 4-8: Forgery, chemical tests, powder/soil, fingerprints
Structure and properties of matter 12.0
Heart Dissection
Grades 5-12 30 students
Students become part of heart surgery team in this interactive dissection lab that explores the anatomy of the heart and what can go wrong. Students learn how arteries are unclogged, how valves are repaired and how to be “heart healthy.”

diversity and adaptation among living things 5.0
anatomy and physiology standard 4.0
Laser Challenges Lab
Grades 4-8 30 students
This hands-on optics lab begins with the question "Does light reflect in a predictable manner?" Students confront challenges and solve problems while creating explanations for what they observe using lasers, mirrors and teamwork.
energy 14.0
Renewable Energy Lab
Grades 5-9 30 students
NEW! Learn the basics of generating electricity. Explore solar cells, wind turbines and other renewable energy sources. Usse scientific tools to collect data and compare energy sources.

Sheep Brain Dissection
Grades 5-12 30 students
Why is the brain our control center? Discover the different parts of the brain in this captivating hands-on lab! Explore the functions of various brain areas and participate in hands-on activities that relate the functions of a human brain to the functions and anatomy of a
sheep brain.

Wetland Naturalists
Grades 3-12 20-40 students
In a unique collaboration with University School of Nashville, ASC offers a real world science field experience that introduces students to an incredible wetlands ecosystem. Using school transportation, students and teachers meet with an ASC Educator at USN's wetlands to identify plants and animals, while collecting specimens to take back to the ASC microscope lab. At ASC, students make observations about the special adaptations of aquatic invertebrates and wetland plants. This fascinating experience is bound to excite and inspire all young scientists.
