The NEW Sudekum Planetarium at Adventure Science Center

Grand Opening Weekend
June 28-29, 2008

The New Sudekum Planetarium's premiere show is STARS, an original production narrated by stage and screen actor Mark Hamill. Adventure Science Center has been working with National Space Centre in Leicester, England, to create this stunning 26-minute show exploring the powerhouses of the universe and man’s relationship with the night sky throughout history. Part of the STARS soundtrack is performed by The Nashville Symphony, conducted by Albert-George Schram, Resident conductor. STARS is made possible, in part, by a gift from SunTrust Bank, Inc.

During opening weekend, STARS will show every hour from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Please visit the Sudekum Planetarium FAQ to learn more about STARS and the new Planetarium. Check our schedule page for show times starting June 30.

  • David Aguilar: 11 Planets - A Guide to Our New Solar System

Ask almost anyone nowadays including an astronomer how many planets we have in our solar system and you will get many different answers. Why is everything so uncertain? Because astronomers make mistakes too! Today we will explore the reasons behind this mess and why some astronomers are now saying there are 11 planets in our solar system including Pluto! Aguilar is a naturalist, astronomer, writer and space artist whose work has been featured in Time, US News & World Report, NY Times, and Scientific American. His series of books published by National Geographic include Planets, Stars & Galaxies and 11 Planets.

  • Flumpa® & Friends

A lively, interactive family adventure combining engaging music, energetic physical movement, and science "fun facts."
  • Bill Crosby

Local songwriter and performer. He will perform selections from his children’s CDs My Pet Snail and Peanut Butter Fish.
  • Love in a Big World
