The countdown has begun! Even though the launch of STS-114 on Space Shuttle Discovery has been rescheduled for July - at the earliest - Adventure Science Center invites the public to learn about the preparations leading up to this event and its implications for the future of space exploration. Admission is FREE for the "Return to Flight" public lecture, Tuesday, May 24th from 6:00 to 7:30 PM in ASC's Jack Wood Hall. Special guest speakers will present on NASA's latest endeavors and what it means for future trips to the moon, Mars and beyond.
Guest Speakers:
- Marshall Space Flight Center Safety and Mission Assurance Engineer Paul Johnson will deliver a brief presentation explaining NASA's current missions and describing his work as it relates to Return to Flight. Mr. Johnson has worked on numerous projects for NASA, including the Space Station Mir, and currently is involved with the Constellation Crew Exploration Vehicle for the new Moon, Mars and Beyond initiative.
- Todd Gary is the Director of the Institute for Understanding Biological Systems at TSU and Co-Director for the NASA Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Aerospace Academy, also based at TSU. His portion of the program will focus on NASA's missions to the moon, Mars and Jupiter's large icy moon of Europa.
