Weather Advisory: Program will occur whether rain, snow or shine.
TWISTER is a daylong conference for girls in grades 9–12 presented by professional women working in science, technology, engineering and research fields. Each presenter is eager to share her excitement about her job with you, answer your questions and give you a little taste of daily life in the workplace. It is your chance to explore and question women working in careers or fields you may be considering. You may also discover opportunities for internships, learn about educational requirements, and hear first-hand how women balance careers, interests and family.
The goal of TWISTER is to inform and motivate high school girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The event fosters awareness of career possibilities in math and science-related careers, provides young women with opportunities to meet with positive role models and engages young women with limited opportunities for success in positive experiences involving math and science. The event began in the spring of 2003. Since 2003, over 1,000 students have attended TWISTER and over 250 women have volunteered as presenters. TWISTER is an acronym for Tennessee Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Research.

Presenters are asked to prepare a 55-minute session and present this information to 20-25 participants. Sessions involve a 10-minute introduction to the field, a 30-minute hands-on work-related activity, and a question and answer period. If you are interested, please email our Education Team today.
