Adventure TowerIt is a pillar of imagination. It is a journey through science. It is smart, creative, athletic, musically gifted, and has an enormous heart. And It possibly has the best view in Nashville.

It is the Adventure Tower at Adventure Science Center. And it's packed with exciting scientific exploration. Lift a car without breaking a sweat. Crawl through a beating heart. Then climb through the roof inside the Adventure Tower's giant glass pyramid.

Adventure Tower is packed with dynamic, interactive, and, above all, educational science activities that represent the Museum's six scientific concept areas: Earth Science, Creativity & Innovation, Sound & Light, Air & Space, Health and Energy.

All the activities in the Tower are designed to ignite children's curiosity and cultivate their desire to explore scientific and technological principles beyond the classroom.

Adventure Science Center has always emphasized "hands-on" education because we believe that's what really brings science to life for children. Here, they're not just learning science concepts; they're applying them and having fun. The Adventure Tower continues and even magnifies that tradition. It's our most progressive example of "hands-on" education to date!

EARTH SCIENCE
Do you know how to get to the top of the world? Would you like to go?
Since the "flat vs. round" debate, the Earth has been the subject of much intrigue and wonder.

On Top of the World
Enter the giant 14-foot diameter globe at the top of our Adventure Tower to see the world from a new perspective. Notice the spectacular view of Nashville's skyline.

CREATIVITY & INNOVATION
The next Leonardo DaVinci, Alexander Graham Bell or Albert Einstein could be tinkering away right here. At this laboratory of sorts, great scientific feats are being accomplished. Motion and force are being analyzed. New shapes and patterns are being discovered. Innovative designs are being developed. Create your own imaginative inventions!

Kinetic Wall
Create your own unique crazy coaster that makes the ball jump, spin, twirl, and drop. The Kinetic Wall lets you be the coaster designer!

Tessellation Wall
Manipulate geometric shapes to create new, unique patterns of color.

Hanging Mobile
Create a work of art that moves and changes in this unusual sculpture design studio.

SOUND & LIGHT
In addition to sound, what makes plucking a guitar string music to our ears? Why does one piano key sound different from the next? How can you see around a corner? These mysteries and more come to light in this area of the Adventure Tower.

Walk-In Guitar

Stand inside the body of this giant guitar, pluck the strings and FEEL the vibration. Where else but Music City, USA, could you do this?

Walk-On Piano
Put on your dancing shoes and play a tune. Be a Nashville songwriter and make a hit song as you boogie across the piano keys.

Shadow Wall
Strike a pose and freeze your shadow in time on the glow-in-the-dark wall.

AIR & SPACE
You're the brightest star of all as you examine the realities and mysteries of the universe and the physics of flight. Experiment with objects and force, gravity, airflow and more in this galaxy of fun and learning.

Parachute Drop
Learn how air resistance helps parachutes drop slowly. Experiment, build, and test your own parachute designs.

HEALTH
Future medical professionals, get out your stethoscopes and begin your careers here as you explore the wonders of the human body and learn how to keep it in good working condition.

Heart Crawl
Be the blood as you take a trip through an oversized replica of the human heart, crawling through the four chambers and valves as you listen to the heart beating around you.

Skin Climbing Wall
Climb along a cross section of skin, using hair follicles, sweat glands, and touch receptors as hand and footholds.

Vertebrae Ladder
Learn the structure of the back bone as you climb up this ladder to the Health level of the Adventure Tower. The ladder, which looks like a large spine, shows the bones and cartilage.

ENERGY
Have you ever been to a place where you can lift an elevator by pedaling a bicycle? Make an object move without actually touching it? Or elevate a car off the ground with ease? Sound like magic? It's not. Here, you're more Einstein than Copperfield - much more Newton than Houdini. It's a simple case of mind over matter, really.

Bicycle Elevator
It's not an "extreme sport" yet, but our unique adaptation of the bicycle will surely burn off some energy. Pedal as fast as you can to power a generator and raise our "Televator" to the next level.
Supported, in part, by:

Lever
Your challenge here is to lift a real car off the ground all by yourself. The fact is, you can do it without even breaking a sweat using a simple lever.

Solar Whirligigs
See if you can make them move without ever touching them. Aim a beam of light onto the solar panels of these light-powered whirligigs and watch them dance!
